Marriage and Divorce - Jewish perspectives

Link to Resource

BBC Bitesize Religious Studies provides a brief overview of Jewish perspectives on marriage and divorce. There is a short test activity to consolidate learning.

Classroom suggestions:
a) Ask students to identify and define the key terms in this topic (e.g. marriage, divorce, cohabitation, faithfulness, ketubah).

b) In small groups ask students to suggest what promises to his wife a man might include in the ketubah (marriage contract)?

c) What reasons can students offer explain why some Jewish young people living in the UK choose to ‘marry out’ (i.e. marry someone who is not Jewish)?
